HOW PUNGA GROVE CATTERY CAME ABOUT

My partner Murray and I moved to Onekaka in 2011, we brought a section and lived in our Fire Engine Housetruck for two years whilst we found our feet and then built our home. Whilst building our home the overgrown, undeveloped section next door came on the market, I just HAD to have it and had visions of doing holiday accommodation with the Fire Engine… plans changed and Punga Grove Cattery evolved.

During my time in Golden Bay I have worked from home, contracting to an Insurance Company doing essentially data entry. I was very fortunate to be in such a position, but I missed the contact with people day to day. My love of animals, connecting with people, desire to develop my section further and the realisation of the need for a cattery motivated me to explore the possibility of creating this establishment with much excitement. It has not been an easy journey but my sheer determination has paid off and here we are today.

There seems to be some ‘family connection’ with Boarding Kennels and Catteries. My Aunty and Uncle had a Cattery in Rangiora and another Aunty and Uncle had Boarding Kennels also in Rangiora. Whilst my partners daughter, Georgie, owns and operates Padz and Paws in Koromiko. Also, there is evidence a Sheila Gray owned Kennels in Ironworks Road in the 1980’s… my maiden name is Gray and here we have Punga Grove Cattery in Ironworks Road… it’s meant to be!

I look forward to meeting with you, and giving you peace of mind that your cat is well cared for while you take vacations.
